Project Manager - Wastewater

FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Client Sector Leader

Job Summary

This is considered an intermediate to advanced level position in the Project Management field.  This position is primarily responsible for managing wastewater project resources.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning and design of wastewater treatment, reclamation and recycling, pumping station and collection system facilities.
  • Manage project budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate preparation of engineering reports and engineering drawings and specifications for large, complex wastewater projects.
  • Coordinate construction administration and inspection during construction of wastewater facilities.
  • Oversee facility startup, operator training, and process and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Oversee preparation of facility Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals and perform operations evaluations.
  • Support firm efforts in wastewater research pursuits.
  • Assist in development of client base for water or wastewater projects and assist in development of firm-wide marketing plan.
  • Represent the wastewater expertise of the firm in professional organizations and societies.

Preferred Education & Work Experience

  • BS degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, and MS degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience and Professional Engineering registration.    
  • Strong skills in planning and design of large municipal wastewater facilities.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater processes.
  • Demonstrated competence in treatment plant hydraulics and modeling of complex hydraulic systems.
  • Strong experience in assembling contract documents and preparation of design reports for large, complex projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Full computer literacy including word processing, Internet, database, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Desire to be challenged.
  • Willingness to take the initiative and assume responsibility.
  • Ability to work well as a team member.
  • Strong client development and marketing skills

  • Follow standard company policies and procedures such as those found in the Employee Policy Manual.
  • Successfully manage project budgets and manpower.
  • Efficiently manage project manpower.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Represent the company well to clients.
