Project Engineer (Drinking Water Process and Detailed Design

This is considered an intermediate position within the drinking water design field.  The position is primarily responsible for providing drinking water treatment plant process and design engineering.  The ideal candidate would have solid knowledge in water quality and water treatment for both surface and groundwater supplies.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Design treatment facilities including filtration systems, chemical handling and feed systems, reservoirs, pump stations and solids handling facilities.
  • Prepare engineering reports, engineering drawings and specifications for large, complex drinking water design projects.
  • Participate in facility startup, operator training, and process and equipment troubleshooting.

  • Prepare facility Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals and perform operations evaluations.

  • Assist in marketing activities such as client development, proposal preparation and oral interview presentations.

  • Availability for occasional travel for project needs and company representation at industry conferences. 

Preferred Education & Work Experience

  • BS and MS degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, with an emphasis in drinking water plant design and technologies.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience and P.E. registration.  
  • Strong skills in design on large municipal drinking water facilities.
  • Experience in planning and implementing drinking water bench studies and pilot tests.
  • Experience in preparing design reports and technical memoranda for large, complex, municipal projects.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Full computer literacy including word processing, Internet, database, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Desire to be challenged.

Performance Expectations

  • Work collaboratively as a member of the drinking water group team.
  • Perform drinking water process and detailed design to client expectations.
  • Participate in an industry organization such as AWWA.
  • Demonstrate willingness to take the initiative and assume responsibility.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well as a team leader or team member.
  • Maintain billability goals.
  • Follow company standard policies and procedures such as those included in the Employee Policy Manual.
