ob Summary
This is an advanced position incorporating specialized technical and management skills. The employee must demonstrate proficiency in the management and preparation of large system water and wastewater master plans. The position requires a seasoned knowledge and technical understanding of drinking water systems (including pipelines, pumping stations, storage reservoirs and treatment facilities) and wastewater and reclaimed systems (including pipelines, pumping stations, storage reservoirs and treatment facilities). Comprehensive experience with both water and wastewater system modeling is essential.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate facility and master planning for large water and wastewater systems for new and existing municipalities and developments.
- Be the prime firm representative to clients for water and wastewater master planning projects.
- Review existing planning documents to glean essential information for new assignment.
- Coordinate a multi-disciplined planning team that may include surveying, mapping, system modeling, cost estimating, scheduling, public involvement, and permitting specialties.
- Coordinate large complex planning projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Direct preparation of master plan documents, including plans and specifications.
- Manage preparation of proposals for water and wastewater and master planning pursuits.
- Manage maintenance and development of client base for wastewater and master planning projects and assist in development of firm-wide marketing plan.
- Represent the wastewater expertise of the firm in professional organizations and societies.
Preferred Education & Work Experience
- BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, and MS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years professional experience in large municipal water and wastewater planning and design and construction.
- Professional Engineering registration.
- Demonstrated successful experience in directing the with at least five major water and wastewater master plans, with estimated project costs of at least $50 million.
- Demonstrated knowledge water and water and wastewater system models with numerous nodes, and skills in successfully directing the work of system modelers.
- Strong skills in the design and construction of water and wastewater facilities, including pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs and treatment facilities.
- Comprehensive experience in land use, permitting and zoning.
- Strong experience in assembling contract documents and preparation of design reports for large, complex projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Full computer literacy including word processing, Internet, database, spreadsheets, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Desire to be challenged.
